Key Lime Donuts with Watermelon Sugar
Ingredients
For the batter:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tbsp key lime zest
- 2 tbsp key lime juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 egg
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
For the sugar:
- 1 bag of freeze-dried watermelon
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

- In a separate bowl, whisk together the 1 ½ cups granulated sugar, ½ tbsp key lime zest, 2 tbsp key lime juice, and 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract until smooth. - Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a thick batter forms.
- Fill a piping bag or a plastic bag with a 1-2 inch opening. Pipe the batter into a donut pan, filling each mold to the top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
